Help students understand why the pyramids were built and how religious beliefs shaped Ancient Egyptian civilization with this engaging, low-prep Ancient Egypt Afterlife & Pyramids activity. This resource combines an informational reading with a hands-on 3D pyramid craft, allowing students to explore Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife, mummification, gods, and pharaohs in a meaningful, memorable way.

Students first read about Ancient Egyptian religion, including polytheism, beliefs about the afterlife, and the importance of preserving the body through mummification. They then construct a 3D pyramid model and place historically accurate burial items inside or around the pyramid, reinforcing key concepts through active, project-based learning.

This activity works well as a stand-alone lessonproject-based assessmentunit supplement, or end-of-unit project for any Ancient Egypt or Ancient Civilizations course.
