The Portfolio: Revision as Argument: Reading Unit 4, Grade 11 (Letters & Devotion)

Description

The Portfolio: Revision as Argument is Unit 4 of Craft and Revision: A Creative Writing Workshop (Grade 11), the Letters & Devotion Reading course, complete in one printable PDF: 8 lessons, the unit check-up and the answer key, 71 pages.

• The genre-specific criteria sets from Units 1-3 applied diagnostically to one’s own prior drafts
• The self-critique protocol and its genre-conditional application
• Revision priority-setting under a scarcity constraint
• Criteria-based defense versus preference-based justification
• A reflective essay defending named revision choices with criterion and evidence
• The parent-reader question sets, generalized to an untaught genre
• Transfer of the self-critique protocol to an unfamiliar piece and unstated criteria
• Portfolio assembly format and completeness requirements

Every lesson is written for a parent with no teaching background: it opens with a short script to read aloud, names the specific wrong idea a student is likely to reach for and how to correct it, and closes with a practice sheet you may copy for your household. Scripture references are King James Version throughout. Black-and-white, 8.5 x 11 in. The whole year of this course is also in this store as a single book.
