Description

Body Systems as Interacting Subsystems is Unit 2 of Life Science: Systems, Energy, and Change (Grade 7), the Letters & Devotion Science course, complete in one printable PDF: 10 lessons, the unit check-up and the answer key, 63 pages.

• Structure-function relationship in organ tissue (e.g., villi in small intestine, alveoli in lungs)
• The cell-tissue-organ-organ system hierarchy
• Nutrient transport across the digestive-circulatory system interface
• Gas exchange between alveoli and capillaries
• Cross-system causes of an unfamiliar symptom
• Reflex (nervous) versus hormonal response timing and duration
• Multi-system flow-model of digestion, gas exchange, and circulation for a single meal
• Generalized principle that separating gas-carrying and nutrient-carrying pathways prevents harmful mixing
• Claim-evidence structure of an informational text on organ systems
• Validity of matter/energy transfer arrows in a systems flow-model

Every lesson is written for a parent with no teaching background: it opens with a short script to read aloud, names the specific wrong idea a student is likely to reach for and how to correct it, and closes with a practice sheet you may copy for your household. Scripture references are King James Version throughout. Black-and-white, 8.5 x 11 in. The whole year of this course is also in this store as a single book.
