Description
When a class reviews metabolism and nutrition, the hard part is not finding questions, it is finding out where the group is actually weak. Cellular respiration, energy balance, hormonal control of blood glucose, digestion, absorption and micronutrients all get reviewed at the same depth because there is no quick way to see that half the class is solid on ATP yield but confused about which nutrients enter lymph versus portal blood. This set is built to surface that difference in one class period so review time goes where it is needed. Inside are 40 multiple choice questions in three parts. Form A is a 10-question diagnostic that samples all six content areas. Form B is a matched 10-question retest, item for item, at the same difficulty and on the same concepts. Between them sit 20 practice questions grouped by area: Cellular Energy Pathways and ATP Production, Energy Balance and Metabolic Rate, Hormonal Regulation of Fuel Use and Blood Glucose, Macronutrient Digestion and Enzymatic Breakdown, Nutrient Absorption and Transport Routes, and Vitamins, Minerals, and Micronutrient Physiology. You also get a scoring table that maps each missed item to its content area, a fact sheet of the misconceptions that come up most often in this unit, and an answer key that explains every option, correct and incorrect. A typical run takes a week or two. Give Form A early in the unit or at the start of review, score it against the table, and read the column totals rather than the individual scores. Assign the grouped practice questions only for the two or three areas the class missed most, either as homework, small group work or stations. Use the misconception fact sheet as your talking points when you go over answers. Then give Form B a few days later and compare area by area. Two things make this different from a question bank. First, the per-option explanations name the specific misconception behind each wrong answer, so when a student picks the distractor claiming fructose absorption is sodium dependent or that glucagon acts on skeletal muscle glycogen, you already have the sentence that fixes it. Second, Form A and Form B are matched rather than duplicated, so a student who improves has understood the concept instead of remembering an answer letter. Every item was independently verified before publication; questions that failed verification were removed rather than reworded, which is why the count is 40 and not a rounder number. This suits college level Anatomy and Physiology II, allied health and pre-nursing prerequisite courses, upper level high school anatomy and physiology, and instructors running structured review for a metabolism and nutrition unit. It assumes students have already met basic cell biology and enzyme function. It is not an introduction to the topic, it does not include lecture slides or reading, and it will be too dense for a general biology or middle school health class. Delivered as printable PDFs, ready to copy, with the answer key and scoring table as separate files so you can hand out the questions without the answers.
