Description
This mini unit was designed to make learning about Thanksgiving History fun and meaningful. It has easy to follow along activities, and makes Thanksgiving more special. This workbook explores the history behind the Thanksgiving holiday, intended for grades 5-6. Its a great social studies workbook, that helps students understand more than just the feast behind our Thanksgiving traditions. This workbook allows students to learn about the Wampanoag life, the Mayflower Voyage, along with the first winter for the settlers, and the 1621 harvest gathering. There is also a section regarding how Thanksgiving became a National Holiday.
There are Historical reading passages with factual information added, matching cause and effect activities, the Mayflower timeline and sequencing. A Diagram labeling and historical scenarios. Along with harvest sorting exercises that have evidence based analysis. A few critical thinking questions. Teaching notes and historical references.
All Answer Keys are included. This would be a great social studies lesson for homeschooling parents, or teachers who want something extra tied straight to Thanksgiving.
