Introduction to Probability: Math Unit 7, Grade 7 (Letters & Devotion)

Description

Introduction to Probability is Unit 7 of Mathematics 7: Proportional Reasoning and Rational Number Systems (Grade 7), the Letters & Devotion Math course, complete in one printable PDF: 9 lessons, the unit check-up and the answer key, 60 pages.

• Theoretical probability of a single event expressed as fraction, decimal, and percent
• The divergence between theoretical and experimental probability under small sample sizes
• A probability model with outcomes assigned probabilities summing to one
• Agreement between a theoretical probability model and observed relative frequency
• The sample space of a two-stage compound event
• Probability of a compound event as a fraction of the sample space
• The structural difference between combining independent stage probabilities correctly versus combining them by addition
• A simulation designed to estimate the probability of a novel compound event
• The relationship between sample size and confidence in a probability model

Every lesson is written for a parent with no teaching background: it opens with a short script to read aloud, names the specific wrong idea a student is likely to reach for and how to correct it, and closes with a practice sheet you may copy for your household. Scripture references are King James Version throughout. Black-and-white, 8.5 x 11 in. The whole year of this course is also in this store as a single book.
