This FUN Skip Counting Practice unit blends dramatic play with skip counting for an interactive, real-life situational, problem-solving class time!
You can work on counting by one number at a time – or multiple at once! Plus I’ve added some amazing worksheets for desk work time!
How Does it Work?
You’ll begin by setting a price for each scoop of ice cream. A poster is included with the different flavours, as well as price tags to set prices, ice cream cones, and ice cream scoops.
You’ll then set it up so that one person is the ice cream seller and one is the customer. The customer will ask for a specific number and flavour or colour of ice cream, or they’ll mix and match. The seller will then need to count how much the cone will cost depending on how many scoops were ordered. For example, if the customer ordered 5 scoops and you’re counting by 2’s, the seller will have to count by 2’s for each scoop – 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 – and then tell the customer their cone will cost $10.
The customer then uses the included play money to give that amount, also needing to count by 2s. Everyone learns at once!
