AUTISM WRITING SUCCESS: GRADES 4–8
An 18-Week Multisensory Writing Curriculum for Afterschool and Enrichment Programs
Help students with autism become more confident, capable, and independent writers with this structured, neurodiversity-affirming writing program for grades 4–8. Designed for afterschool programs, enrichment centers, homeschool co-ops, tutoring centers, and small-group instruction, this curriculum provides 18 complete 55-minute lessons that make writing clear, engaging, and accessible.
Each lesson follows a predictable routine that includes explicit instruction, visual modeling, hands-on practice, guided planning, supported writing, and a purposeful kinesthetic break.
Students learn to organize ideas, construct strong sentences, develop paragraphs, and create narrative, opinion, informative, research-based, practical, and multimodal compositions.
The curriculum respects students’ individual communication, sensory, and learning needs. Students may write by hand, type, dictate, use speech-to-text, rehearse orally, or receive appropriate scribing support.
