How the lessons work

Students study a word in their mind’s eye, finger spell it, find it among the word cards, build it with letter tiles, read and rearrange learned words, and find them in the rhyme. Short word-building activities explore familiar sounds and patterns. Formal narration is not required at this level.

Plan for sessions of about 10–15 minutes. The curriculum is not tied to a specific grade or age: adapt it to your beginning Spanish learner’s readiness. Families may use it once a week or several times a week, completing the course in one year or stretching it gently over two.

Supplies needed separately

• A whiteboard and marker, or large paper.
• Letter tiles with Spanish letters and accent marks, or sticky notes to adapt a standard set.
• A printer and scissors for the word cards.
• Optional illustrated Spanish nursery rhyme collection; the lesson rhymes are included in the curriculum.
• Internet access if using the optional YouTube video support.
