What it is and who it is for:

This resource is primarily for teachers and parents of preschoolers that love animals and want to learn more about them.

What children learn:

Children will learn about a sea turtle’s journey from the nest, to the ocean, and back again as they listen to the read-along and practice story comprehension skills as they work through the activities. They will also practice fine-motor skills as they create their own sea turtle craft.

What makes it useful:

Throughout my years as a mother and an educator, I’ve heard children ask “why?” and “how?” to so many things in life and nature. This little learning resource grew out of one of those kinds of questions: “Why do sea turtles return to the same area that they hatched from?” I wanted to give young learners a fun way to explore the answer through a story, activities, and craft.

Supplies needed for craft:

1. 3 pipe cleaners (any colors you like)
2. Craft Glue
3. You and your creative hands
4. A grown-up helper

Supervision is recommended.
